What Is an OCD Intensive?
Our OCD Intensive Program is a short-term, high-impact treatment option designed to help teens and adults make meaningful progress in just four days. Using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), clients learn to face fears, resist compulsions, and reconnect with the life they want to live.
Sample Schedule: What to Expect
Day 1: Understanding OCD & Laying the Foundation
Theme: Insight, Structure, and First Steps
- Review of clinical assessments and personalized OCD profile
- In-depth conversation about how OCD shows up in your daily life
- Set specific treatment goals — How will we know this is working?
- Education on:
- How OCD operates and why ERP works
- The role of values in treatment
- What to expect during and after the intensive
- Discussion of resources, progress tracking, and family involvement
- Review your custom exposure hierarchy
- Complete 1–3 low-level exposures with support
- Reflect on what you learned and assign tailored ERP homework
- Create a flexible plan for Day 2
Day 2: Facing Fear & Building Motivation
Theme: Learning by Doing
- Homework check-in and reflection: What worked? What didn’t?
- Values clarification to increase motivation and meaning
- Continued education on:
- Core fears and obsessive thinking
- The avoidance-anxiety-compulsion cycle
- In-session exposures with therapist and ERP coach
- May include off-site exposures if appropriate
- SUDS tracking and response prevention in real time
- Process exposure experiences
- Assign new ERP homework with guidance and encouragement
- Prepare for optional family/friend involvement on Day 3
Day 3: Bringing It All Together (and Involving Others)
Theme: Empowerment Through Practice & Support
- Review ERP homework and reflect on progress
- Continued values work: Reconnecting with what matters most
- Learn about:
- How OCD impacts families and relationships
- How to break the accommodation cycle
- Supporting recovery at home and beyond
- Optional Family or Support Person Session:
- Educate loved ones on OCD and ERP
- Teach how to reduce accommodation and coach exposures
- Complete an exposure with the loved one present
- Revisit and adjust treatment goals based on progress
- Assign final-day homework to stretch growth and reinforce skills
Day 4: Strengthening Skills & Planning for the Future
Theme: Consolidation, Confidence, and Closure
- Final review of ERP homework
- Complete meaningful exposures that reflect client’s goals
- Discuss ongoing challenges and how to navigate them
- Build a relapse prevention plan tailored to the individual
- Outline next steps to maintain progress
- Celebrate progress and leave with a personalized roadmap
