Tiina Anttila is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Registered Play Therapist with over 12 years of clinical experience working with children, teens, and their families across a broad cultural spectrum to address a range of concerns including anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, and behavioral concerns. Tiina has a special heart for working with children, as young as three years of age. She also has volunteer experience with non-profits such as Houston-Galveston Institute walk-in clinic, and as a facilitator of grief groups at Bo’s Place for children who have lost a loved one.
Tiina received a Master of Arts degree in Psychology from Houston Baptist University. She has an eclectic approach to therapy, depending on the needs of the client, but always emphasizing the uniqueness and strengths of the client, and striving to provide a safe, warm and supportive environment. She is amazed at the strength of the human spirit and a person’s capacity towards growth. Tiina holds a Diplomate status with the Viktor Frankl Institute of Logotherapy.
Tiina utilizes Play Therapy techniques when working with children. While she mainly uses talk therapy with teens and older clients, Play Therapy is thought to be one of the most beneficial means of helping children who are experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges. Play is the natural language of children and it is how they heal and learn new skills.
