    National Certified Counselor

Michelle Urquhart is a National Certified Counselor and LPC-Associate under the supervision of Shannon Deitch, LPC-S, RPT-S. Michelle earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. After working with children in settings including education and childcare, Michelle attained her Master of Science in Counseling from the University of North Texas. She specializes in child-centered play therapy. Michelle is passionate about the power of healing through the therapeutic relationship, particularly when children are free to process their experiences and explore their worlds and selves through play.

Through play therapy, children can safely explore past traumatic experiences, build emotional regulation skills, increase their self-esteem and sense of autonomy, and more. Michelle strives to create an environment that enables her clients to feel seen, heard, and understood, and therefore to grow. Through the counseling process, she enjoys collaborating with caregivers to monitor their child’s progress and discuss ways of addressing issues at home. She believes that there is no “one size fits all” approach to parenting, and therefore will consider each child’s unique living situation when discussing such matters with caregivers. Michelle welcomes all children and their families with an open and empathetic mindset.
